Separate the editions
Upscayl presents a desktop image-upscaling route and also promotes cloud services. Those are not interchangeable promises about cost, privacy or hardware. Compare the edition you would actually use with the browser-based Let’s Enhance workflow. A free desktop option can be attractive when a supported computer is available and its output meets the brief. It is not automatically the least expensive overall if installation, waiting or correction dominates the job.
What the comparison should measure
Choose a representative permitted file and a precise output size. Keep creative changes restrained. Inspect text, fine edges and repeating textures; then compare the image at its intended physical use. Record any manual repair needed. Do not infer a universal quality ranking from a single successful photograph. Different source types can behave differently.
